THE SWEDISH NIGHTINGALE

Jenni Lind (The Swedish Nightingale) was a collaboration between Yumi King and I. The interesting stop motion film was inspired by the sadness of loss, the downside of fame, and the loneliness of grief.

For me, my task in this project was to write the narrative, and I enjoyed every second of it. Being able to express the singer's loneliness gave me a sense of fulfilment because I could capture her story.

The last line of the short film solidifies the narrative’s main idea.

“I apologize if this story doesn’t align with the narrative you anticipated. Perhaps you were seeking more glitz, cameras, and excitement. I could have given you a more soul-enlightening tale, sadly, I lack such offerings. This isn’t the tale of a beloved icon you might adore. Rather, it is the account of a woman whose generosity extended to embracing a battered soul like mine and tending to those who bear scars, much like you. This narrative doesn’t belong to a Nightingale; instead, it’s the story of a Raven.”
